OrlandoCameraClub > Best of Show Lighthouse by: Diane Chenault Judge 1: Sometimes simple is best. Great shot. Great lighting. Great composition! Excellent! Judge 2: Gorgeous lighting. Love the placement of the lighthouse and relationship to the fence. Good angle to put the fence at a diagonal. Great depth with the leading fence. Very good, deep focus. The lighted side of the lighthouse is blown out, looks like the photographer managed to salvage that somewhat, but it's still a bit lacking in detail. Overall a superb image. Judge 3: Use of verticals and diagonal of fence really complement strong subject.
OrlandoCameraClub > Honorable Mention City On A Wall by: Jeanee James Judge 1: The color shift takes this ordinary shot to the next level. Great composition. Great idea! The lens flare took away from the composition score. Otherwise, excellent capture! Judge 2: Great viewpoint. There were a lot of good decisions in this shot such as taking the shot on the diagonal angle. Selecting the low back lighting is also wonderful, creating some strong shadows, and enhancing the texture, yet still keeping the detail in the shadows. This is a great example of using lens flare to enhance the mood - hard to do without being hackneyed. A good example of "breaking of the rules". All of those decisions create a strong drama and gorgeous light. The eye roams in this picture nicely. Love the soft focus of the background (and it's hazy feel), don't like the soft focus on the right and l.r. The photographer actually created a good hyperfocal focus (focused 1/3 in), and was almost great at it, but just missed it in some of the foreground. Still, really fascinating. Judge 3: Great use of perspective, light, texture, and composition to convey real power and impact!
OrlandoCameraClub > Honorable Mention Dancing In The Sun by: Jim Thomas Judge 1: Superb! Not many photographs entice the viewer to explore all angles and give no definitive subject, yet capture all the qualities of a creative and technical work of art. Great job!! Judge 2: Great eye for the planes, angles, colors, and textures. What else is there? nothing else, oh that's what the picture's about then. Good job, clear and crisp. Not much I can think to improve it. Then why score = good, not great? Not sure, maybe it just doesn't sing to me, but might to others. Hope the other judges give you more. Judge 3: Nice capture of diverse lines, color, and texture.
OrlandoCameraClub > Airplane Heaven by: Winnie Gustafson Judge 1: Creative picture. I'd like to see more photo and less photoshop. An eye grabber though. Judge 2: very interesting surreal vision. Like the flow and movement of the composition. Fun picture, clear concept. This picture seems to step beyond the boundaries of photography and graphic arts, which bothers me just a touch in this case (did the photographer take the picts of the airplanes? the stars must be all electronically drawn, what about the lines? how much is truly photography?). Guess that's the modern trend though, so maybe no big deal. Looks like we're about to have a spectacular crash Judge 3: Creative and Technically well done. Planes need to be better organized to show action or purpose.

Judge 2: Great placement of the diagonal lines, converging in the lower corner. Also great placement of the diagonals so that they don't exit in the exact corners of the frame. The beaded water is captivating. Our eye is drawn to the large beads (dominance - look it up). Yet the two larger beads at the bottom are chopped off by the frame. Might be a touch better if those 2 beads were cropped off, then the single large bead in the well placed sweet spot would be a nice focal point. Would also be much better with richer blacks in the background, easy to correct. Judge 3: Needs focal point, more contrast.
OrlandoCameraClub > Cross, Swirls and Lines by: Beverly Morton-Goble Judge 1: The lack of exif data takes away from the overall score, however the picture has a very serene quality. It's certainly a beautifully colorful subject. Judge 2: The formal, balance, centered composition is perfect for the subject and the artist's statement. The saturation of colors in the window is gorgeous. The dark blacks in the wings do a good job of creating the dark, dramatic mood and making the glass luminous in contrast. But the composition focuses on the cross and circle, which are dead in the deep shadows - they need more detail shadow interest, something. The overall tone is just too dark, the proportion of dark to light is a static 50/50. Judge 3: Good color and I like composition. Seeing more of dark areas would add something.
OrlandoCameraClub > Downtown Reflection by: Alan Dart Judge 1: A unique perspective of an everyday view. The photograph has something about it that draws the viewer back again and again. Perhaps different angles could be even catchier?!?! Judge 2: Good arrangement of lines with the slight curve. Love the cubist feeel of the reflections. The small piece of palm tree in l.r. is distracting: either include more of it for effective scale and color contrast, or crop it out. The entire shot is a bit uninteresting - its well done but it would help to bring something slightly different to this very common type of shot. Judge 3: Good geometric. Mix of opposing groups of reflections convey tension and diversity of adjacent buildings.
OrlandoCameraClub > Intersected by: Cindy Murray Judge 1: The use of black & white gave the picture a unique quality, however it tells no story. If the road, path, lane, etc, would have been somewhere in the photograph, it would be a complete package. Nice shot. Judge 2: Good placement of the two signs in the frame, with the diagonals, and the overlap. Interesing subject and a mysterious story kind of feel. Technically, the picture desperately needs more contrast and a wider range of values. Judge 3: Great Image. Would prefer a little more contrast.
OrlandoCameraClub > Swirled Intersections by: Mary Wood Judge 1: Pattern photography makes more of an impact when the pattern is defined by the subject's description. There is no way to know what this pattern is a part of (though one could guess). A wider/broader view would have made this a more descriptive photo. taking away the guess work. Judge 2: Good isolation of the pattern against the contrasting background. No problem with a centered compostion in this type of formal arrangement, in fact it's very good for this: harmonious with the pattern. I find the clipped edges of the composition slightly distracting. Possibly slightly closer with only curves leading out? It may be the contraints of the electronic review, but it sees oversharpened to me - maybe that's just the texture of the curves. I like the saturation of orange in the u.l. corner but it washes out elsewhere, harsh lighting maybe? Judge 3: Good technique, but I don’t get the point.
