Judge 1:The title of this image made me smile. I like the way the photographer zoomed in and used the road in front to create depth. The trees and vegetation appear to be over saturated creating artifacts and the overall image is over sharpened. Judge 2:The building itself creates a nice composition. Shadows seem noisy. Judge 3:Appreciate the irony in the image and the competition theme. However, the image is not distinctly Florida.
OrlandoCameraClub > At Rest by:Linda Schoonover Judge 1:The lighting on the subject is very good and the exposure captured this well. I like the light on the dock adding some color to the image and the reflection of that light leading your eye into the image. Cutting off the top of the boat and the bow makes me feel like the image is incomplete and the entire image is out of focus. Judge 2:I really liked the mood this photo set. Judge 3:The boats are lit beautifully. However, the light coming from the dock and its reflection are so bright that it draws the eye away from the boats. Consider leaving some breathing room in front of the boat on the right to allow the boat to go somewhere and to ease the eye from the hard crop.
OrlandoCameraClub > Nuns at South Beach by:? ? Judge 1:The photographer was on to a great concept with the repeating columns and the colors of the columns, capes, and scarves. Unfortunately, there are too many distracting objects, colors, and shapes in the background that disrupt the composition. Technically this shot is sharp and the exposure has captured the flow and texture of the capes. This is an extremely difficult shot to take because you literally have seconds to choose your camera settings and compose the shot before your subject walks out of the scene. Judge 2:Wonderful color and exposure, maybe try a different crop to move the nuns off center. Judge 3:Don't quite get the Florida travel connection. The nuns are too centered. The leaf and debris in the lower right corner are distracting. Nice attempt with the colors and lines of the subject.
OrlandoCameraClub > Shark Attack at Sea World by:Margaret Lam Judge 1:The exposure on this shot is good. Taking the shot from a different perspective such as lower to the ground would help eliminate the snapshot appearance. Shooting the camera off it's horizontal plane is a good idea but more of an angle would emphasize the intent. Judge 2:Humorous catch. Might be interesting to crop out people and leave just the shark and the exit sign. Judge 3:The shark is interesting as subject matter, however, the image is more of a snapshot. The people are not focused on the shark. Focusing solely on the shark and not including the people may have worked better or waiting unitl the people were expressing interest or perhaps pointing at the shark might have drawn more of the viewer's attention.
OrlandoCameraClub > Pristine Florida by:Dave Carley Judge 1:Glad to see someone submitted a shot of the real Florida. The image is out of focus. Judge 2:Exposure and focus suffer. Try an artistic filter and see if that helps the image. Judge 3:The image is blown out and lacks detail and sharpness. It is difficult to see what the photographer wants the viewer to focus on.
OrlandoCameraClub > Mount Dora Wall by:John Francis Judge 1:This image is technically done very well. For me, this image is extremely difficult to judge because when I look at composition, creativity, and impact those parameters are incorporated into the wall art before the image is even taken. So I have to ask myself how much of the creativity of this image is due to the photographer? For me, I find this difficult to discern. Judge 2:I know its on a wall, but I want to see what's around it. Doesn't say Florida. Judge 3:This image may have been stronger if the viewer could see the context. Perhaps stepping back to show the full wall or streetscape would have afforded more interest. The colors are nice. It would have been stronger to include the entire door at the right. Try some different perspectives.
OrlandoCameraClub > St. Bernard de Clairvaux Monastery, Miami by:Susan Germyn Judge 1:I like the lines and curves of this image a lot. The stained glass is out of focus. The softness of this image is very appealing. Judge 2:Lovely composition, seems the image could be sharper, and it doesn't say Florida to me. Judge 3:Very interesting subject but want to see it closer. The image calls for the viewer to look inside and to appreciate the handiwork. Would also like to see more of the arch. The image feels cut off.
OrlandoCameraClub > Florida Gator by:Jim Rhoades Judge 1:The focus is very sharp and the composition is done very well. I like the bands of colors horizontally across the image. I love the reflection in the water. I find the vegetation behind the gator unappealing to the eye. I wish there was a way to blur the vegetation in the background but I don't think that is possible with the gator being so close to it. Very good shot Judge 2:Technically well done. Judge 3:Nice image. Might have given a tad more head room in in front of the alligator's face. Would also be stronger with better contrast.
OrlandoCameraClub > Sailing in Key West? Judge 1:If you could put the top of that mast back on I would feel a lot better about this picture. I like the lines created on the surface of the water from the sunlight and shadows that lead your eye from multiple points into the center of your subject. The point of land and the boat on the right edge of the photo are a distraction. You've got a very good exposure here, just put a little more thought into composition. Judge 2:Try cropping the forground and move it off-center. After straightening, it needs a crop. Judge 3:Image is too centered and sunlight takes away from photograph.
